What are the joys and the difficulties of the Apostolate of the Suffering (CVS), an Association that has been working in the Church for the past 70 years?
This is a question regarding our past, our achievements, but it also refers to our future evangelistic projects.
The answer lies in going forth seeking the “existential suburbs” where everyone belongs, fits in and is actively a part of the Church and society. This the role of every Apostolate member.
Msgr. Novarese focused on the lives of the suffering in the “suburbs”. They lived empty lives filled with pain. He and Sister Elvira Myriam Psorulla wanted to change the suffering’s view of life following God’s plan as did Mary of Nazareth. Msgr. Novarese’s vision of faith and hope transformed many persons into active doers throughout the past 70 years.
This year we are celebrating our 70th anniversary. We are called to make profound choices in our spiritual lives putting the Holy Scriptures and the Holy Spirit at the center of our actions. We cannot be caught up in old habits and traditions. We have to look toward new horizons making our faith stronger through our inner growth. May 13 this year is also the one hundredth anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin at Fatima. The shepherds from the Cova da Ira were canonized.
Another sign of the Virgin’s message of salvation and peace.
Let us all live our 70th anniversary of the Apostolate’s foundation opening our hearts to the Immaculate Virgin renewing our enthusiasm in following Blessed Novarese’s path in the evangelization of human suffering.
